I nearly killed myself laughing on Sunday night as I watched Celebrity Apprentice. It wasn't because of the Don's sad inability to take himself any less than seriously, it was because of the scenario that I'm sure had designers everywhere shuddering in horror. The challenge for the two final celebrity teams was to create packaging and signage for an imagined 7-Up campaign.
Each of the teams was huddled around the computer of a lone designer, vulnerable and hating his life, barking directions at him as he wove his magic in Photoshop. "More stars!" screamed Meatloaf. "It's got to be more retro!" demanded Star Jones. "But not that retro!"
Something tells me the Donald would not approve of anyone looking over his shoulder as he made his latest meglomaniac deal. I guess in his world, designers don't deserve dignity.
